Deborah Ann Ave-Lallemant Obituary
Deborah Ann Ave-Lallemant, 75, of Fair Oaks, California, passed away
peacefully on April 11, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Her
unwavering faith, generous heart, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on all who
knew her.
Debbie was born on February 24, 1950, in Sacramento, California, to Leroy and
Hilma Wolcott. She attended Town and Country Lutheran School for elementary
education and graduated from El Camino High School. She later pursued studies at
Sierra College. From an early age, Debbie’s life was rooted in faith, family, and
service—values that would guide her throughout her life.
One of Debbie’s earliest joys was working at Snook’s Candies and Chocolate
Factory for Buzz and Carol Minow—a job she cherished and often spoke of fondly. She
later began a long and dedicated career with the State of California, where she served
faithfully for 31 years before retiring. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were
evident in every role she undertook.
Debbie was married to Raymond J. Ave-Lallemant until his passing in 1996. She
was a devoted mother to Paula Baca, Tammy Varney, and Mark Goodridge. Her legacy
continues through her beloved grandchildren: Alex and Mandy Baca; Mason, McKenna
and Owen Varney.
She was also a cherished sister to Dennis and Janine Wolcott; Janice and Paul
Goddard; Kathy and Chuck Edwards; Susan Sims; and Darren and Christi Wolcott.
Debbie held close the memory of her mother and father, Hilma and LeRoy Wolcott, her
late brothers James and Martin Wolcott and her nephew Jason Edwards. She shared
deep bonds with many nieces and nephews who brought joy to her life.
Debbie’s Christian faith was the foundation of her life. She was baptized at Faith
Lutheran Church in Fair Oaks and confirmed at Town and Country Lutheran Church in
Sacramento. In 1976, she became a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Citrus
Heights—a community that became her spiritual home for nearly five decades. She
enrolled her children in the church’s school, deeply valuing Christian education. Over
the years, Debbie served on numerous church committees and ultimately took on the
role of hospitality coordinator. Her dedication shone brightest during the annual Easter
brunch—a tradition she lovingly organized each year.
A gifted singer with a warm voice and joyful presence, Debbie was a longtime
member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church choir. Music brought her great happiness, as
did sharing her love for cooking and baking with others. Known for her sweet tooth and
affection for candy, Debbie delighted friends and family alike with homemade treats that
reflected her warmth and generosity.

Debbie faced the challenges of pancreatic cancer with grace and resilience and
remained steadfast in her positivity—an inspiration to many who witnessed her strength.
Her vibrant personality, compassionate nature, and unwavering devotion to serving
others will be remembered by all whose lives she touched.
A funeral service honoring Debbie’s life will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025,
at 11:30 AM at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, located at 7869 Kingswood Drive in Citrus
Heights, California. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow immediately after
the service.
May Deborah Ann Ave-Lallemant’s memory bring comfort to those who knew her
and continue to inspire acts of kindness in her honor.
